*OBCW (Our Babies Can't Wait) is a local program that piggy backs on the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program (which is nationwide) which provides a free book every month for the first year of your baby's life (or every month after you sign up until they're one). The local program (OBCW) provides a free book every month until your baby is FIVE! Pretty cool huh! You just have to attend five of the six parenting classes. The classes seem pretty basic but maybe I'll learn something.
Call me a nerd but I love these kinds of posts. After a week of working on weaning Claire's thumb sucking - DO NOT STOP MONITORING!!! It actually hasn't been too bad but yeah, if you can not start, that would be great. :):)
ReplyDeleteI would've taken a thumb over no self-soothing at all.. but, Julie is the voice of experience here. :)
ReplyDeleteI also love these types of posts. No matter who writes them, everyone's day always seems insane!
Tell me more about this monitoring thing... are you basically just watching her to keep her from starting to suck her thumb?! This sounds... like a lot of work. I am impressed with your dedication to good oral habits.

I know, these posts are fun :).
ReplyDeleteMonitoring isn't really a proven technique or anything.. it's basically what you said, watching her and pulling it out. So far it is monumentally ineffective! We'll see... she still switches between fingers and thumb and isn't quite set on one or the other yet.. and like you said, self soothing is self soothing.
