I just have to say that I thought that Blake and I came up with this as an inside joke... but I came across this picture/list on Pinterest the other night and I see that we aren't as original as we think.
Whenever we find ourselves starting to complain about something that boils down to a convenience item (and we Americans have plenty of those) we stop ourselves and make a hash-tag (#) symbol in the air followed by "American Problems" in an announcer voice. At some point we started also saying "First World Problems" and sometimes "Developed Nation Problems" but you get the idea.
Basically, we're just reminding ourselves or each other to keep our lives in perspective. When I complain about not having enough closet space, I stop and think about how lucky I am to have both a closet and things to fill it. Or when something cosmetic happens to my car.. again, a little perspective would say.. oh how thankful I am to have a car.
So now I'll put my frustration with blogger in perspective and start writing a new beach post.
Well I look forward to reading the beach post. But that makes me mad when blogger does that to me!! :) I like the first world problems list. Particularly the one about the GPS making someone drive through the ghetto.

That list made me laugh. My favorite was the one about itunes. I hate itunes! But it is good to put things in perspective. I mull over when I reorganize (which is fairly often) that America has an entire industry (products, magazines, tv shows, blogs, etc) devoted to organization. Because we have so much STUFF we can't contain it unless it is organized. :)
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahaha!!!! I'm stealing this for facebook. SO TRUE!
