7 Months

Seven months! This past month has been every baby’s dream.. her whole family home and no where to go. We work around her naps now, not the other way around. It’s a strange world out there but we have enjoyed every moment at home together.

Hudson’s first teeth popped up just this week. Such cute little razors :). They make her distractibility while eating more painful but they’re also pretty cute.

SIX Months!

Always a little bittersweet this little milestone. Half a year! It’s hard to remember our lives without this sweet girl’s smiles. 💗

She’s weighing in at 22lbs and flying through the sizes. She’s comfortably in 12 month clothes and the occasional 12-18 month outfit too.

Hudson sleeps great and has a pretty good routine of morning nap, afternoon nap, and then a cat nap on the couch with mommy and daddy in the evening. Our school outings throw a wrench in that routine but I  learned how to accommodate her naps on the go better.

She’s sitting up pretty well if we give her a wide base with her legs and she’s scooting herself backwards when she’s on her tummy.. I don’t think she actually wants to do that, and usually she ends up frustrated.

She babbles and laughs and smiles her way through the day. She’s a little clingy at dinner time, thankfully daddy swoops in and entertains her. We’ve also found that sitting her up on the couch next to the toy basket keeps her pretty entertained and she is up high enough that she can see us.

5 Months!

I can’t believe how quickly this month flew by! At the beginning of the month we hit a new phase of awareness/cognition and suddenly everything is so interesting. It’s hard to feed her in public (or even the living room) and getting a nap while out and about is nearly impossible. She just can’t help herself!

She still sleeps really well at night, as long as I make sure to feed her in a dark, quiet room for several feedings during the day. I learned that the hard way when she tried to make up for her distracted daytime eating by eating all night. She’s slowly moving up her bedtime zonk out time usually she’s out for the night at about 10/10:30.

I was just about to throw in the towel for awhile with cloth diapering but then she hit another sweet spot and suddenly she’s easy to diaper. Whew! I still pretty much do cloth at home or for quick outings and paper diapers for our longer outings and nights. She is still on the second rise snap but with 6-8 snaps showing in the width.

She is still wearing a few 9 month clothes but depending on the brand and the tightness of the pants/legs she’s mostly in 6-12 months or 12 months.

Hudson loves Mama and despite daddy’s efforts she tends to be most content with me or at the very least watching me. She continues to enjoy her activity table and loves when the big kids play peek-a-boo, read to her or just make silly noises and movements. She doesn’t cry very often but when she’s getting upset she makes a worried wimpery, fussy noise or she straightens and tenses up her body and blows hard raspberries.

I think teeth must be on the horizon, although not too soon, her gums aren’t swollen or bumped yet but she sure chews pretty intently and she traded spit up for drool - mostly. She still pegs me with spit up now and then. Often enough that I still carry a burp cloth and usually end up using it.
