Three Months

This girl just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter! This month has been filled with more smiles and lots of giggles! She’s awake for longer periods and has finally grown out of the late night ‘witching hour’ period. Speaking of growing, this girl is just over 15 lbs! She’s roly-poly and completely grown out of 3 month clothes, pushing the limits on 3-6 months and comfortably wearing 6 months size.

She’s so entertaining to sit and watch her or talk to her and she wakes up so happy, especially in the morning. She’s still sleeping pretty well for naps and she’s keeping that longer stretch at night, which I love. She still doesn’t really love getting bathed but does tolerate diaper changes much better now. Getting dressed is a pretty mixed bag though.

She got a spin and bounce thing as an early Christmas present and really she’s too young for it but she enjoys it for a few minutes here and there. I can tell she’ll really love it once she’s strong enough to be in it longer. She still has a knack for wanting to eat when I’m eating (don’t they all) and is generally happier in the morning and afternoon compared to evening still (particularly when I’m making dinner). She takes shorter naps in evenings and wants to be held more or walked around. She’s also less patient with the over-affection from big bro and sis, to the point she’s not too keen when they get too close to her face or try to hold her.

This month has been pleasantly low-key in our day-to-day and aside from Thanksgiving we’ve been hike a lot which means less sleeping baby in the sling but more time to sit and play when she’s awake. She really is a pretty happy, easy-going baby, overall.

Camping

We tried to continue our tradition for a yearly backpacking trip but everyone agreed we could still count the tradition if we just went camping. I really wanted to push through and backpack but I knew everyone else would have a better time camping with a really pregnant mama than backpacking with a really pregnant mama 😉. Not to mention, Blake would have had to carry sooo much stuff to keep my pack lighter, it would be a lot to ask. There’s always next year!

So we began the search for a good camping spot.. not easy to find with such short notice. After much internet searching and filtering we found the best we could do. It turned out to be great. Not too crowded or busy, water close enough and a hike nearby to a little cave! And it was pretty easy for both of our families to get to. Only drawback was there wasn’t a good lunch spot for us to meet at on our way out.

The kids had a blast playing in the trees, riding bikes and playing in the fire. The grown ups enjoyed the conveniences of car camping and having the cleanest pit toilets we’ve ever seen right across the driveway.

Unfortunatley, we can’t seem to avoid rain or mosquitoes. If it doesn’t rain, the mosquitos are killer (last year). If the mosquitos are light, it rains. At least the rain isn’t as bad when you’re car camping but it was a bit of an unexpected inconvenience.

On our way, we stopped to pick a flat of blueberries 😋 mmm. Summer does have its perks!

That’s a cookie and a roasted marshmallow. Mmm hmm.
